Like the other types, you can manage, maintain and do what ever you want to your site, but you can not have your own domain name, you can only have a sub-domain name of the company you have been registered. Definitely, this is just applicable for those who just want to explore their knowledge in creating their own website. To answer your question, "should you go for free or paid web hosting"? , well, this will be my answers: If you are just starting your business, specifically small business or website for your personal interest, the free web hosting will be okay for you. But I am not recommending this to anyone because sooner or later, you will need to expand your storage space, and have your own domain name. And no one is responsible for whatever happens to your website, because you are not paying anything. So better to invest a cheap hosting if you really need a good quality service and a security for your site.
